Chelsea-Chicago, IL:
Saw the fireball at 12:03am early August 5. I was facing west and the
fireball seemed to come from the west and go east. It was about the
size of a star, but was brighter than anything in the sky. It burned
out as it went overhead. We thought it was just a shooting start, but
it lasted to long for that and it was much brighter and bigger.

Ann-Hinsdale, IL:
western suburb of Chicago, about 14 miles west, between 11:45 and midnight; looking up into the night sky, facing north, I saw the hugest meteor going from west to east, very fast, and yet so close, I thought at first it was some kids goofing around and it was going to land in the neighbors yard on the next block. But,it disappeared behind the trees. It was huge almost like the "harvest moon",we would see in October on a real cool and clear night. It did not have a long tail but it looked like it had sparks flaring like a firecracker. It flew by so fast, I couldn't believe how large it was! I wear glasses so I could not really see vivid colors except for the white and blue from the direction that I was standing from.

Bingo M.-Springboro/Clear Creek Township, OH:
Looking from my back deck to the south / southeast, a bright yellow
trail that lasted approximately 5 seconds and then ended in a larger
(but still not any bigger than my thumb from a distance) yellow
"splash." It was completely silent and magnificent. Not sure if others saw it or not.

On August 5th, at 9.30 PM local time (UTC/GMT +1 hour) a meteorite fell near Zagreb, Croatia, creating a 3m crater. Unfortunately the crater was modified by locals searching for the meteorite. The meteorite is apparently unrecovered. The meteorite fall was witnessed by a local who described huge green fireball approaching from WSW, and hitting the ground in a forest, 1 mile from his place. The crater was discovered few days later. The air traffic control in Zagreb airport might have recorded the event, need to check that. Any other observations of meteorite fall on that day?
