Reanna In Winchester, CA...I saw this awesome teal/blue light when I was facing southwest in winchester/french valley CA. The size was larger & color/brightness was more intense than ANY other sky activity I've seen. it went from left To right in an arched downward pattern.  What I Saw lasted 3 seconds & traveled  through what I'd consider lowEr 45-35% of sky circumference. Please contact if further details/ explanation is needed.

From Kenneth In Thousand Oaks, CA...We were going South on Dover Avenue in Thousand Oaks, CA at around 8:15PM on 2/23/2011. The object dropped straight down as we faced due south. It appeared to be about as big around as a pencil eraser on our windshield, and was fairly bright, bigger and brighter than Venus. It fell behind trees rather quickly from our vantage point.

Feb 23 2011, 5:39 AM Guest686 (guest): From Landenberg, PA: During my 5:15am commute this morning (2.23.2011) I think I saw a meteor very low in the sky. It went over the road I was driving (Rt 841 & School Hse Rd in Landenberg, PA). I lost sight of it, because of a hill and trees. I am very curious if anyone else saw it. It was almost unreal - it was a big blue illuminated ball headed for the ground at an angle. I can't get it out of my mind - what a wonderful way to start off the day!!

From Anonymous: I saw this too. I was out walking my dogs...it was closer to midnight, a little past, actually. I'm in Tustin, and it appeared very very bright and very close to where I was. It was a bright, straight-downward-streaking flash that appeared to have a small piece break off (equally bright), and then it disappeared. It only lasted about a second, and to me it seemed like God was shooting a Roman candle at me. Fortunately, he missed.  We are glad he did! Thank you.

Meteor News...Bright Green Southern California Fireball Seen ~11:00pm PST 22FEB2011....

From MG In California...
I saw a bright flare-like thing in the sky tonight. I'm sorry I can't remember the time exactly but it was close to 11pm PST Feb 22 or possibly later (ie 12am PST). At the time I thought it was someone who'd shot some kind of flare although I thought that was odd. I was taking the garbage to the curb. When I turned to go back to the house is when I saw this. I was facing South in Pasadena on East Claremont St. It was slightly to the left but just 15 or 20 degrees left of what we consider South here.   It was flare or firework like. Falling. Not as swift, fast, smooth as a typical shooting star. Bright. Green on the light side. It appeared maybe about 15 to 25 degrees up and vanished in 1 second maybe just above the horizon. I doubt it was a flare. If I can figure out the time better as I think about it some more, I'll let u know.

I just received the Nasa link to this site today, Mar. 1, and started navigating through it and discovered mention of the sighting I had made on the way home from Taos, N.M. I was North bound on I25 just north of Pueblo, Co. and saw it to the NE heading somewhat eastward appearing in the top middle of my windshield and heading to the right and down in a manner where I would have thought it could have landed in eastern colorado or points further east, not being real familiar with predicting this kind of thing. It was green to greenish -blue fairly slow and breaking up a little before fading out. It was still twilight out as the sun had set maybe 10 mins. prior to seeing it. I was going to check radio stations or newspapers the next day, but the daily grind of having to work and dealing with the trivialities of life put it all out of mind; until the NASA e-mail notice of today. Thank you whoever put all this together as it was kind of exciting finding all this info regarding what I had seen.
Keep Looking Up!

Feb 23 2011, 5:44 AM rangerman (guest): I was on the paragliding launch pad in North Boulder. I saw the whole event. The meteor came from the North West burning bright red/orange and broke into three pieces. It made a sizzle sound and seemed so close. I had the perfect view from the ridge above North Boulder anyone else see it?
E-mail From Greg:
I also saw the Green fireball. It looked like a firework. I live in S.E. Denver. I saw it around 5:50 pm MTS. It made it very cool because just 2 minutes earlier I was holding a meteorite from my collection.
E-mail From Dave M:
Right about 5:50 PM MST I was travelling east on Singing Hills Road in western Elbert County. I caught a glimpse of it as it essentially passed me and I looked over just in time to see it burn out. I was pretty low to the northern horizon which gave the impression that it was very close to me. I guess if it was NE of Longmont then it wasn't as close to me as it appeared. It appeared to break into 2 or 3 pieces before it flamed out. It definitely had a trail and appeared similar to those fireworks that are shot up that have a bright light followed by a trail of light. It was pretty cool but I wish I'd have seen it longer. From my vantage point, it flamed out to the Northeast of where I was. I was almost to Elbert County Rd 13 when I saw it to the north.
Hope this helps. Would be curious to know what is determined about this event. I called it in to 9 News. Thanks.
Dave

Guest573 (guest): I too saw the meteor. I was driving east on Singing Hills almost to Elbert County Rd 13. Caught a glimpse of it to the north just before it burned out. Looked very close, but if it was Northeast of Longmont, it wasn't as close as it appeared. I too thought it was a firework, but then thought no, it couldn't have been. This was at about 5:50 PM and the object appeared to be going west to east. It appeared to break into at least 2, maybe 3 pieces just before it burned out

Around 5:45 - 5:50 p.m. tuesday eve (2/22/2011) in Longmont, CO, I was looking Northeast and thought I was seeing a firework launched from across the street behind me - from west. It was green, and looked like a street light (with a tail). I didn't realize what I had seen until I was driving home and heard the radio DJ comment about listener's sightings. Very cool.

Hello, I saw the green meteor in Black Forest, Colorado. I was heading east on Swan Rd at 5:50 p.m. Feb. 22, 2011, when the green beauty caught my eye to the north. It look extremely close as it appeared to head ENE just above the tree tops north of Swan Rd. I saw the black train which disappeared after the meteor apparently burned out at about 10 or 15 degrees (I am a civil engineer, but I am new at this degrees thing in the sky- so, at about a fist or so from the horizon). I actually drove off in that direction thinking I may find it laying in pit in a gravel road somewhere. I know distance in these events can be deceiving, but it appeared very close, the color very sharp and clear. No noise, no explosion. The green light simply went out.
Good luck and how exciting!

Guest775 (guest): Today at 5:50 MST, just west of Power's Blvd and Briargate Pkwy in Colorado Springs, CO I witnessed a bright green fireball to the East. At first I thought it might have been a plane due to the green coloration, however the shots of red and orange coming off sporadically lead me to believe this was a meteor

Guest846 (guest): This evening Feb. 22, 2011,at 5:50 P.M. I saw a green meteor which appeared to be just above treeline North of Swan Rd in Black Forest heading ENE. A black trail of smoke was visible just before it burned out. Looked very close, though I realize distance can be deceiving. Quite a sight!
