BREAKING METEOR NEWS...Central Texas Green Meteor Fireball Seen From N Texas To Houston 13JUL2011

Possible Major Texas Fireball With Fragmentation Witnessed From Irving to Houston ~11:55pm CDT 13JUL2011
UPDATE !!! SANDIA SENTINEL FIREBALL CAMERA CAPTURE OF THIS EVENT
Below is a composite image and video of the reported fireball over Central Texas. It was captured by Kevin Palivec-operator of the Sandia Sentinel Fireball Camera in Hawley, TX at 04:52:16 UTC 14JUL2011 (11:52 pm CDT 13JUL2011). While the fireball is not "spectacular" compared to eyewitness reports, it occured some 400 kilometers (250 miles) from the camera. To show up that well, that far away and in close proximity to a nearly full moon speaks volumes about it's brilliance at closer range. The event lasted just over 3 seconds.

I saw it at about 11:54pm from my back porch in Katy TX (zip 77449).   Bright yellow flaming light coming in from the west (maybe 20 degrees elevation) and descending to the NNW (about 340 degrees azimuth) until it disappeared below the horizon.

Ray M.-Cranfils, TX:
WE saw it last night.  It was spectacular. We live in a very rural area near Cranfills Gap Texas. It was south of us and traveled from west to east just below the full moon.  It was not a white streak, but a full fireball and tail as it passed here.

Steven S.-Bryan, TX:
I was taking my lunch break at work, just laying down in my truck's bed relaxing, and around 11:55 pm on Weds. July 13th, looking in the NNW sky I witnessed a very large fireball appear in the sky. It didn't look like a normal shooting star or meteor shower. It appeared bigger, closer, and much brighter than any other I have seen in the past. It lasted for 3-5 seconds before it disappeared at the horizon.

I live in Rio Frio, Texas, 2 hours west of San Antonio in the Texas Hill County.  At approximately 11:45 p.m., on July 13, 2011, I witnessed a very bright falling object in the eastern sky.  It was brighter than any shooting star and moved slower, more like falling than shooting.  It was at least 2-3 times brighter than the brightest star or the ISS station.  It was huge!!  Did anyone else report this?

Shawn G.-North TX:
I am in north Texas. My back yard faces south slightly south west. At approximately 11:55pm july 13 th I witness a large burning object streaking from right to left just under the moon. It was very bright and mostly white in color. It broke into several smaller pieces and turned red and burned away. I am familiar with meter showers enough to know this was different. It didnt have a long trail and seemed to move slower than normal. I was in awe by how bright it actually was especially being right under the moon which is almost full. I googled and found this sight with similar reporting from earlier today and yesterday. Hope this is helpful. In awe from texas

Guest839 (guest): I saw a two bright lights side by side travel from southeast to northwest and dissapear into the sky. At first I thought it was a shooting star, but it was way to slow. I think the fire ball had already broken up into two when I saw it. It was truely majestic.
PS, im in houston, tx it was around 12am
